Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
Physicians often refer patients to the Medical Rehabilitation Center if they have been diagnosed with, stroke (CVA), spinal cord injury, hip fracture, amputation, major multiple trauma, brain injury, neurological disorders (multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, parkinson's disease, guillain barre'), arthritic diseases, joint replacement, and/or other temporarily incapacitating conditions. Services of the Center include physical, occupational and speech therapy. During the year ended December 31, 2006, HealthSource Medical Rehab Center provided 3,500 days of inpatient rehabilitation care and an additional 5,632 outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy visits.
Our Medical Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit (founded in 1946) is designed to assist individuals with disabling conditions in rebuilding and maintaining their lifestyles. The Inpatient Rehab Unit 38 licensed inpatient beds. A board-certified physiatrist leads our team of skilled, well-trained staff members who develop individualized treatment plans based on the particular needs of our patients.
The Inpatient Rehab Unit has a "Home Room", donated by the Field Neurosciences Institute (www.fni.org). This provides a home-like environment for you and/or your family to practice skills learned during rehabilitation training, prior to discharge. The Center can also provide a home evaluation in preparation for your discharge.
Other on-site services include chapel, barber and beauty, pharmacy, dental and gift shop. Coming in 2008 upon the completion of our Building and Renovation Project, we will offer additional services of a coffee/ice cream parlor and movie theater.
