Admission Criteria
The following are general guidelines for inpatient admission. HealthSource Saginaw typically works on a case-by-case basis to determine the best level of care for you or your loved one. Our experts are happy to help you determine the appropriate level of care for your situation.
Medical Rehabilitation
Acute Inpatient
- Medically appropriate
- Need for 24/7 rehabilitation nursing and medical care
- Motivated and able to participate in therapies 5 days a week, 3 hours a day (which includes dressing and activities of daily living)
- Identified discharge plan
- No recent completion of inpatient rehabilitation program for the same injury or illness, unless a change of condition has occurred and is documented
Long-Term Care
Skilled and Extended Care
- Medically appropriate
- Need for 24/7 rehabilitation nursing and medical care
- Non-ventilator dependent
- Potential for functional improvement
Patients/residents are reviewed weekly by staff members to determine length of stay, plan of care, progress made, and insurance requirements.
Behavioral Medicine
Acute Inpatient Psychiatric

- Patients with Medicaid or without insurance must be assessed prior to admission by the community mental health authority of their residential county
Chemical Dependency
